The Okanagan is a spectacular and spiritual place. It is otherwise known as the interior of BC, as well as paradise. I grew up visiting the interior, and have watched it change so much and yet, still stay the same. Every outdoor sport imaginable as well as incredible vineyards can be seen or done here.
We love Summerland, it is the less populated and quieter towns to visit, but is still close to every vineyard and every hike imaginable.
The fascinating part about this area, is that it is dry and is completely different from the rest of the interior landscape.
This area is really family friendly. We stayed in a great hotel/condo that had a restaurant, but had full kitchen, spa and pool. We always find the pool really handy with our son. Plus, the view and the area is great for long walks, wine tasting, or great beech outings. The hikes, well it is BC, there is no hike that is bad! Most of the hikes in this area are really easy with small kids, with great playgrounds and parks.
Kelowna has the only airport, but renting a car is easy, and the highways and surrounding area is easy to get around. If you haven’t been, you really should make it a destination during the summer months!
